The game of hockey, or field hockey as it is from time to time known as, originated thousands of years ago. It is usually played on grass, but can be played on a diversity of surfaces counting gravel as well as sand-based or water-based reproduction grass. Usually hockey is now played on synthetic surfaces - chiefly at the higher levels similar to the Olympics. In basic terms, hockey is a two-team sport which sees every team with curved sticks toward move a small hard ball concerning the pitch - the ultimate aim being toward get the ball keen on the goal.
11 players make up a hockey team, as well as each team is permissible up toward five substitutes. The rules related toward substitutions are not as rigid as some sports, as hockey teams are able to make as many substitutions as they like during a game. |
